I Guess This Is a Prime Example...

...Of how much studio consumes your time.

We haven't updated since August. Oops. But, now it is time to let the festivities to begin!

I'm going to post this as a little FYI for those possibly want to be future architects out there. Know what you're getting into.

We recently had our annual (as if you aren't stressed out enough) IDP meeting. What's IDP? Intern Development Program. One of those beautiful things developed to help architects become better architects. Great, right?

Well, see, here's the quick review, the SparkNotes, the 4-1-1 if you will.

To become an architect you need:
-A degree from an accredited program (Basically, a M.Arch.)

-IDP Credits, a total of 5600 hours (~3 years) which, on average, takes 4.5 years to finish. Not to mention it can't just be 5600 hours in a firm, oh no, it has to be in specific areas. Documented. And signed off on. (Good luck, in this economy.) But alas, you architecture newcomers are at an advantage over us old folks on this one! You can now start getting IDP credit immediately after high school, where as we had to wait until the end of our junior year in college. Le sigh.

-Pass the exam. All 7 sections of the exam. Over a 5 year period. ($210 each)

Simple, right?
